Try new work with sickness benefit

If you find a new job that might be suitable, contact your employer and Försäkringskassan. You may be able to take a leave of absence to test out the new job. This gives you the chance to see whether a new job would suit you and your conditions better. You keep your sickness benefit and are on a leave of absence from your employer, so you do not lose your job security. Please contact us if you have any questions.

If you are no longer entitled to compensation from health insurance, you may be eligible for a type of meeting with Försäkringskassan and the Swedish Public Employment Service known as a career readjustment meeting.

At the meeting, you will sit down and talk to an employment officer and an administrator from Försäkringskassan. Försäkringskassan is responsible for deciding whether a career readjustment meeting should be offered, and it is your choice whether you want to participate.

The aim of the career readjustment meeting is to give you an orderly transition from health insurance to working life. At the meeting, you will receive information about what assistance and services the Swedish Public Employment Service can offer you. We will also discuss what you can do to facilitate your transition to working life.

The Swedish Public Employment Service can offer you:

  • help in your job search
  • information on the labour market
  • information on the support and services the Swedish Public Employment Service has to offer
  • clarify your working conditions, where relevant
  • information about general conditions for compensation from unemployment insurance.
